1. Read for 20min using Signposts as you read.
2. When you finish reading for 20 minutes, pick one of your signposts to write a response on it. Use the signpost anchor questions to help you write a response.
- Contrasts and Contradictions: Why would the character act (feel) this way?
- Aha Moment: How might this change things?
- Tough Questions: What does this question make me wonder about?
- Words of the Wiser: What’s the life lesson and how might it affect the character?
- Again and Again: Why might the author bring this up again and again?
- Memory Moment: Why might this memory be important?

1. Opinion Writing Prompt: Do you think schools should have closed due to the Coronavirus? Even though Shallowford Falls ES did not have any confirmed cases of Coronavirus.
Students need to write an opinion piece answering this prompt.
- State opinion in the introduction.
- You will need TWO reasons (each reason will be a body paragraph)
- Each reason needs TWO pieces of evidence you have to support your reason
- Restate opinion in the conclusion
2. Journal Entry: Title it as Day 5 – March 20, 2020
Write about what you did today.
Things to think about in your journal entry:
- How was your day different from a normal day at school?
- What did you and your family talk about?
- Did you discuss what is going on with Covid-19?
- If so, what was discussed?
- What are your thoughts and feelings about being out?

- In order to fill in the final pages in your journal, you will need to log in to Nearpod.
Teachers will be monitoring student access and completion of the Nearpod activity.
Post a picture of completed notes on Edmododo, as a message to your teacher. Once you’ve typed your message, you can look down to find the paperclip! The paperclip will let you attach a typed not, or a picture of completed notes!
